When I moved in just three months ago, I was so sure I wanted dark blue walls. Dark blue walls, a white bed frame, and white linens would make for a contrastical pairing, right? Ha. While it doesn't look bad, it certainly isn't a home run. I imagine 20-year-old, oops-paint-buying me living here instead of almost-30, fancy-pants-job me.
Fast forward to now, I'm still staring at the counterculture teenage-boy blue walls (and ceiling...I know! Embarrassment is in full swing - laziness never pays off) because I still haven't figured out what I want to do with this room. Deep down I know I should make a moodboard to avoid wasting another $80 on paint, but that's not in the foreseeable future.
But, there is hope! I found this fantastic wallpaper from Julia Rothman at Hygge & West for a steal: $25/roll.
I'm in love but still fearful of my moodboard-less self. I also don't know the first thing about wallpaper. Do I have to sand my walls? Can I manage as one person or will someone find my artistically-mummified corpse months from now? All of these questions are running through my head while I'm also irrationally concerned that I am competing with some anonymous web user for the last remaining rolls of this wallpaper (at midnight no less). I am crazy.
Or, in a serious labor of love, I could channel my inner Lotta and recreate this with a little paint and a lot of potatoes. Sigh. What to do?
In lieu of making an impulsive, insomnia-driven purchase, I just ordered a sample. Fingers are crossed that I'm not waging a web war with someone over 2-seasons ago wallpaper.
